CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING
Taking an intentional approach to weave CRTÂ in every aspect of student learning. From constructing the syllabus, to class discussion, learning activities, assignments and assessments I focus on the assets students bring to the classroom rather than what they cannot do and make learning relevant for all students. My classroom makes every attempt to connect students' cultures, languages, and life experiences to the learning.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Opportunities within and beyond the classroom including real life experiences, critical thinking and networking is a significant apart of the student learning experience to prepare them for the workforce.Â
We created an abroad Internship opportunity in Sorrento, Italy, countless volunteer hours and jobs, participate in legislative sessions regarding tourism law, attending industry conferences, events and more.
I regularly challenge myself and way of teaching and learning to have engaging formative and summative assessment options. My intent is to create assessments that first check for understanding, promote critical thinking, engage career interests and include current events. My style supports inclusivity in assessments and students are given options and power in their learning experience, leading to retention.
